We’re back live with FUN Jewish education in Parkland FL!

I’m SO excited that our first class in Parkland, FL went incredibly well today and to share with you some of the highlights of the first session. I could not wait to hear from Ilissa, our amazing teacher,  and my heart was literally bursting as she shared the details and raved about all of the kiddos!  It really seems like they had a great time!

Here’s what we did

The main theme of our session today was Rosh Hashanah.  Aside from eating yummy apples, honey and challah – the kids learned the main meaning of the holiday – casting away their sins, and had an opportunity to cast their own tashlich on pieces of paper in water.
They made holiday cards, learned some important vocabulary for the holiday, took inventory of what they wanted to “let go of” this year, and what they wanted to do better, acted out a play and played charades, and overall had an amazing time.
Rosh Hashanah is an opportunity for each of us to take inventory of how the year went, what changes we want to make, what values we want to focus more on, and how we want to make ourselves and support our loved ones in our growth and accomplishments.
Many years ago, we focused on what we did wrong.  Today, I believe it is equally important to give ourselves credit for what we did right, and to take the whole sum of what we did into consideration.  It’s an opportunity to make amends, and even say sorry if we aren’t sure that’s necessary – all in the interest of striving for better in our relationships.

Continue this at home and make learning fun and interesting

So, at home – here’s what you can do to continue the dialogue – open up discussions about class today – ask your children what changes they might like to make for themselves, and if they have suggestions for the family unit.  Everyone can play a part in helping those we love make better changes for themselves and it absolutely starts at home.
As the holiday approaches, I want to say THANK YOU for allowing our program in your homes and for putting your faith in us to create beautiful memories in your children’s Jewish educational experience.  Ilissa and I are looking forward to making memories with all of you!  Wishing everyone a beautiful, happy and healthy New Year.  May you be inscribed….
